Would you pay for the service?

swizzy74 asked:

If you received service from someone that was not what you expected, would you still pay for it? For example, you had someone to do some lawn maintenance, or getting a hairstyle that was not what you wanted. Even though your service was not what you wanted, the job has already been done. How many of you will still pay even if the service performed is not satisfactory? Does the person performing the service have the right to be paid even if it is not what you wanted? Will you refuse to pay for the work? If so, does the other person have the right to sue you?

What are your thoughts?

I wouldn’t refuse to pay, but I would probably complain to see about getting it fixed for free or having another service done in the future. Sure the other person is more than welcome to sue you for anything they think they can get.

I would definitely try to negotiate with the company. I work at a car dealership and if a customer feels their car was not properly maintenanced, they’re service advisor will try to negotiate with them. If that doesn’t work, they are able to speak with a manager.

You’re told at the beginning with you get with companies, individuals, etc. what they’re services are going to be. In most cases, they are aware of your expectations as well. If what you’re paying for is not being done then how does that make sense?

I would ask them to do it correctly and voice my concerns, or negotiate and probably get a good chunk of my money back.

Companies don’t want irritated customers. It’s bad for their rep. Usually, they’ll do anything to have the customer satisfied.

If any service was done to your home, you must pay for it whether you like it or not for they can put a lien on your property.
I also believe that if you go & have your hair cut, even if the hair dresser butches your hair all out of whack, that morally, yes you should pay.
I would never ever use them again for their services but yes, I believe you should pay. And as I said, you must pay for any services done to your home.

If my haircut is not right when they ask, “What do you think?,” I work with the stylist to get things finished up into what I expected.

For lawn care from strangers, I name three prices. Top pay for surprisingly excellent work, fair price for average work, & then a fee that is not even worth their time if I don’t like the work. Then I warn them to really consider if they want to spend all that time to only be paid bottom dollar.
Although I’ve never been so displeased that I paid the lowest rate, I’d do it if the situation came up or give them a chance to spent extra time fixing things to my satisfaction.

Anything on a larger scale, I get it all in writing 1st so there’s no law suit option. Oh, they can try, but their own written word will be used against them. I don’t just have them autograph the paper. I ask them to write, “The work instructions written on this paper are understood & are acceptable terms to me. Signed, (name).”
I don’t hire those that won’t sign & I’ve never had any problems with workers that do sign.

If you request the service, and you receive the service, you are obligated to pay for it.

If you don’t like the service you received, that does not relieve you from the obligation to pay. You can always complain, but you have to pay.

Stop trying to be a cheap skate. Pay for what you received.

    Go in peace.

And, always remember: — Jesus loves you!!

    Sincerely,
    Uncle Floyd
